You just simply select the menu and start typing letters in any order, and the menu will jump to the option matching what you typed.
AutoComplete Menu allows callback function to be defined so that when user presses "Enter" key, the callback function will be called with the current value of the dropdown menu (this features allows webmaster to use the value from the current menu to populate another menu).
